When it comes to pickups and which setup is best, I've always had the philosophy that it depends totally on what YOU are going to use it for, what YOU prefer and what comprimises YOU are willing to make.

For me, short- vs long-bed comes down to turning radius, cargo capacity and whether it will fit in my garage.

As for turning radius, my Ram 8' extended-cab turns tighter than my wife's GMC 6' extended-cab.

With a tool box, the 6' bed looks good, but is worthless to haul anything bigger than a dresser. I always notice having that extra 2' feet when loading up. Hauling is what a truck is for. Ya' know?

As for the garage, I've always got so many projects (junk) in it I couldn't fit a VW Bug in there, let alone my truck.

Unless I was going strictly for certain ascetics, I wouldn't buy a short-box, but that just fits MY personal needs.
