I am buying a 2000 2500 4x4 single cab long bed at v10. This truck has a dana 60 front dana 70 rear with 410s and posi. It also was a California Highway Patrol
truck used for the semi inforcement. I cant wait to get it and any info yall got to help me get the most out of it would be nice.

If you can, get the service history on it. That way you can see if it's had the cylinder heads replaced. The cast iron V10 heads seem to have a problem
with developing cracks and then using coolant. It seems that some heads get cracks and others don't. If it hasn't had the heads replaced check the
coolant level in the coolant recovery tank and in the radiator to see if it's low. A low coolant level could mean the heads have cracks.

I've read elsewhere that the V10 head issue was only up to 1998 and that '99 and later V10s don't have these problems. I just bought a 2000 RAM
2500 4X4 with the V10 that was meticulously cared for by the original owner. Gas mileage sucks, but being able to go up grades without the tranny constantly
kicking down is a pleasure.

The V10 cyl head problems are GREATLY exaggerated, the V8's have had more problems with head crackin then the V10's and no one ever mentions them.
Check everything out like you normally would on any used truck and go from there. Don't let some of these internet myths scare you off a good truck.
