i got the stage 2 jet chip in mine. by its self it seemed to give me a little more top end. but i added a cold air , headers , 3 inch exhaust , into 4 inch
stacks and it will rip the tires loose from a stand still on blacktop. i think the chip is a good start. plus its got 112,000 miles. !!!!!!MOPAR OR NO

On a similar note, has anyone tried the STC #9550 flash tool? It's a PCM programmer that stores the original program, and substitutes it with other fuel
and timing maps. Each program takes only minutes to upload into the PCM. The 9550 is for all V8 and V10 OBDII Mopars.

My apologies! I meant to say SCT X-Cal from www.sctflash.com. The Chrysler and Dodge part number is #9550. The website
mentions diesel and the high performance V-10 application, but nothing really for the truck V-10. I'm in the process of determining if a special flash is
required for the truck V-10 or if a Hemi, HiPo V-10 flash will work. I found an X-cal on Ebay. New from SCT it's $699, but I've seen them on Ebay for
$300 to $400. The website is nice; information and videos. I've heard between so-so and good results with the Jet chips, so I decided to stick with the SCT
units.

There is a guy on my site that has been using the SCT on his V10 for a week or two now and said that it made a huge difference in power. There is someone that
sells the tuner and emails you custom tunes. I'm planning on getting the SCT as soon as I can afford to. He did say that the Viper V10 flash won't work
and that the V6/V8/V10 tunes are basically the same, with just minor tweaks needed for the V10. I think he sells the tuner and tune for $450 or so.

SCT flash procedure | ||
|
A huge difference in power is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm so sick of everyone comparing their diesels to what they perceive to be a large V10
paperweight; I guess the rattle truckers need to justify the higher price of diesel fuel, turbos, the stink, the poor cold starts, the short-lived ball joints,
the smoke, the noise, the plugged injectors and the constant fuel filter replacements. They also need turbos and propane injection to even make it off the
line. Let's face it: Diesels are SLOW! I'd want to appear bone stock; you can't look into a PCM and see a custom tune : ] In any case, the SCT
flash procedure goes something like this: Using the SCT X-CAL and the Dodge Advantage III software on a laptop, and your vehicle on a dyno, an efficient and
powerful flash program is created, and stored. That program can function in any similar stock truck (i.e. V6, V8, V10-non Viper), and I imagine the program
could be emailed (you want to have a stock truck) and entered into your X-CAL. Then your stock program is uploaded into the X-CAL, and the tune is downloaded
into your PCM. You can switch programs, for let's say, bringing your truck to the Dodge dealer for warranty work. It apparently only takes a few minutes
for the upload / download, and it beats a permanent PCM flash and the time required to ship it back and forth. Not everyone has a dyno, so you need to find an
SCT dealer that has the Advantage III program for your Dodge, and can maybe create a custom tune for your particular vehicle with respect to modifications, on
their dyno. Keep in mind, none of this is cheap. An X-CAL is between $400 and $500 (maybe less) from Ebay, and $699 from SCT. Dyno time charges will vary, and
the SCT dealers are the only ones with the Advantage III program, and very few of them have the Dodge program. Going to the dyno with worn plugs, wires,
clogged air filter, clogged fuel filter, 1/8th of a tank of 87 octane gas, and clogged cats will cost you time at the dyno shop, and let's not mention the
impression you will leave the tuners if you show up all ate up. I'm figuring the stock 300 hp and 450 lb.ft. of torque can easily be increased to at least
325 and 500 respectively, maybe more with a plug change and higher octane fuel, and even more with a larger throttle body, larger injectors, and headers. If I
can find someone in Utah with the Dodge Advantage III program and a dyno, I'll let everyone here know what dyno numbers I end up with my stock truck. So
far, that's the only obstacle. Djgaston, if you can guarantee a decent programming experience on your truck with your guy, I think a lot of us would be
very interested!

I would definetly be interested in buying one also. I would also like to hear some dyno numbers. If i recall, when i bought the K&N air intake it's
dyno numbers on their sheet were only around 240hp. That is much lower then what Dodge claimed so idk. It would be interesting to find out more about these
programers and the true numbers.

Hopefully I can get one for myself after Christmas sometime. My plan is to get a Fastman throttle body, K&N FIPK, the SCT, put on some headers and open up
the exhaust (I think my cats are partially clogged), put in some new Champion plugs, and then see where I'm sitting at. I think this motor is more capable
than anybody imagined, but it's very corked up from the factory. Getting rid of torque management and adding a more aggressive spark table should wake up
the beast.
I tried to get this programmer to send me an SCT and tune at a discounted price so I could market it for him, but he had no interest and I don't have enough money to blow on stuff like that right now. I know a lot of V10 owners would want this product if somebody would come out and prove it's results, and he's only sold two or three of the tuners to non-Viper V10 owners, so there isn't much info out there at this point. So far, everything I have heard is great, but like you guys said, we need to see some dyno sheets. -Danny Gaston

STC and dyno baseline | ||

Okay everyone, I should be receiving my X-CAL sometime this week. I am searching for anyone around me (Utah) that has a Dodge Advantage III and a dyno. I'd
personnally like to see what my truck will do bone stock, in maintained condition, on the dyno as a baseline figure at the altitude I'm at (+3900 feet!).
Once I get that info, I'll be happy to post it for everyone to get a comparison. I agree this engine should make some nice torque numbers at the very
least, and at a minimum, I'd like to shut off the torque management with the SCT.

Got my SCT X-CAL | ||
|
Yesterday, I received my SCT X-CAL. I plugged it in and it told me battery voltage, trouble codes (there weren't any), my PCN number, my VIN, the original
dealer that sold the X-CAL, and the car it was used on. It has the OBDII connector, a USB port connector, and a multi-pin connector which I have no idea what
it's for, but it kind of looks like a video port on the back of newer televisions. I managed to find a dyno shop not too far away, and as a bonus, also has
SCT knowledge. I'm making an appointment sometime tomorrow or Saturday to obtain a dyno baseline and see what else I can do that day. I'll keep
everyone informed!

Can't wait to see and hear about the results. I'm very close to needing my PCM upgrade or tuner, so I'm in the market for sure.

That does sound reallly awesome. i can burn the tires on my truck just fine right now but if i ever get the cash for a lift and tires i would definetly get
one. I also can't wait to hear those numbers though.

Still waiting | ||

Ok guys, here's the most recent news. For some reason, my dyno guy has fallen off the face of the earth. I've been trying to get a hold of him since
last week Thursday with no luck. Today, his machine says he's closed. I am still going to get those numbers. I have also found a Dynomax dual system for a
sweet deal, and that will be an added dyno run so you can see if it made any power. I'll do a stock baseline, a stock with SCT flash, and STC flash with
the dual exhaust system.

I have a dyno appointment at 9:30 tomorow morning; for once, an appointment I'm going to enjoy going to. I'll post 100% bone stock V10 at the wheels
numbers tomorrow with as much associated information as possible.
