I don't believe they are available for the magnum V10.

He replied to me saying that it wouldn't work on teh 1998 Ram V10. He's just playing to the SRT crowd.

I know a sct tuner begging to do my tune on my 96 v10 into a 1/2 ton project. I'll get his contact details and post them here. I believe he has even
dropped the price of the sct tuner package.

Please do post his info. I know there is a guy on DTO that will do it but I haven't contacted him yet. I'd like another option just in case.

I emailed Roe Racing again hoping to get a different answer, but he said they've never used that tuner on anything w/o a Viper motor in it. So I guess
it's not an option.
cameltoe - any updates from the guy tuning your truck? |

I don't understand why they can't make a tune for the Magnum V10. Most tuners can do custom tunes in about an hour once they have a basic understanding
of the motor they are working on. The Viper V10 is different but not by much. A few changes to their program and it should be ready to go. Perhaps they just
need a test vehicle to play with.

I was a bit mistaken - I went to the wrong people. Roe Racing just does viper motors - they don't make the SCT flash. Not sure why I was thinking that.
Mike at SCT asked for my PCM number - I dug one up on the web and sent it to him so he can check compatability. Like you, I see a positive result coming from
this.
Just for grins - can someone verify the P/N of the PCM for me? This is what I gave him: CHRYSLER P/N P56046 360AE I'm out of the country for a few months so I can't check mine. Thanks - I think we'll get the answer we're looking for! Carter |

I'll check mine today and post back up. I did find out that KRC Racing in Florida will do custom tunes for us at about $450. They've always been really
high on everything. Hopefully SCT will be a little less expensive.

Good news! I sent SCT the P/N for a PCM I found on ebay - 98 Ram V10 w/standard trans. (CHRYSLER P/N P56046 360AE). Mike (or Mark?) ran the number and said it
is on the list of supported PCMs! You can find the SCT flash modules for $499 on eBay and they say they give you three different tunes.
I've never messed with this stuff before, so I'm not sure which is better - 1) one tune from KRC for $450 that may or may not be what we want, or 2) 3 tunes for $500 that may or may not be what we want, but at least we can switch between the three? I'm just not sure. Any ideas from you guys? This forum is like a ghost town and we're teh only three living here... weird. |

It's been my experience that a custom tune is better if you have internal work, but if you just have some bolt on stuff, a pre-set tune is all you need.
I'm surprised that the price of the SCT is so high. Typically programmers are much less than a new computer with a custom tune. I have used the Hypertech
and Superchips programmers in several different trucks and you basically have the option of running regular gas or high octane. Then you can change your shift
points, and adjust for taller tires. I think there are a couple of other options but that is basically all the programmers do. Once you upload, you never
really change it again. So I might lean towards the KRC computer at this point simply because it's a little cheaper. You can also get custom spark tables
which can make a big difference in power, even in a stock motor.
I'll say this... I tried both a Hypertech programmer and a custom computer flash in my old work truck (02 GMC Sierra with a 6.0). The computer flash was much more noticeable in power. I don't know if the SCT will get rid of torque management, but a custom flash will, and that is the biggest thief of power in all late model trucks. The only way the SCT will be better is if we could all split the cost and program multiple trucks with it. This site has been dead ever since I started visiting (months before I actually signed up). I do have a forum that is a little more active... it's a small group of people but there are a few V10 owners that have a lot of experience, and then basically everybody else owns a 2nd or 3rd gen Dodge. I would be interested in getting in on that action. I have two V-10 trucks. A 97 and an 02.

Theres a link to some real world sct magnum v10 results, that Hemifever guy is the SCT dealer/tuner I was talking about. As far as KRC goes, I would avoid them. Of the 8 people I personally know who have used them, none had anything good to say. |
